Parks and Rec

What a wonderful day. The weather was perfect. The crowd of kids and adults was huge. Cape's recent Parks and Recreation Day at the Osage Centre was an unqualified success. Everyone had a fabulous time with lots of fun and games. I particularly liked all of the various mascots representing one thing or another. The absolute highlight was when a helicopter circled overhead. When it landed, the children screamed with delight when out of the helicopter jumped a costumed character known as Playmo.

Right call

I think the jury made the right decision in the Zimmerman case. I think Zimmerman was attacked, and he defended himself. We all, as citizens, have the right to do that. If someone is attacking me and hitting my head on the ground, I'll have to defend myself.

Race, media

I'm still trying to figure out what the Zimmerman trial has to do with race. It seems the media is just looking for an excuse to cause unrest by inventing a narrative. Do these ignorant protesters not realize they are being manipulated and used by a corrupt media?

Obama's statement

While Obama gives lip service to urge protesters to stay calm, he says Trayvon Martin's death was a tragedy for America. Still stirring the pot! It is always a tragedy for anyone to die like this, but a "tragedy for America"? Hey Obama, what about the thousands of young black men who are murdered by other black men in your home state of Illinois every year? You found an opportunity to stir the pot and cause racial problems with this youth's death, and you jumped right on it just like the discord that Jackson and Sharpton always cause.

Gas prices, president

Why is it that the same people who said presidents had no control over gas prices when gas spiked to more than $4 a gallon under Bush Jr. are now trying to blame President Obama for $3 per gallon gas?

Farm bill

Isn't our Congress great? They take the food stamps away from our poorest people to give to our biggest welfare recipients, the farmers.

Reservation fees

We Cape County taxpaying citizens should not have to pay a reservation fee for using our parks that we pay a tax for.

Democrats, Detroit

I saw where Detroit is completely broke. You know why it went broke? It's controlled by Democrats. Look at California and Chicago; it's the same thing.

Handicapped parking

How are these people who have handicapped signs in their vehicles able to park close to stores and walk in, walk around for an hour or two, then walk right back out to their car? Those handicapped spots are there for people who really need it.
