Marie Voelker

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie "Pete" Voelker, 97, of Perryville died Sunday, July 28, 2013.

She was born May 15, 1916, in Perryville, daughter of Glenton and Birdie Dunker Welker. She and Lawrence E. Voelker were married Oct. 25, 1937. He preceded her in death April 9, 1974.

Marie had worked at Prince Gardner in St. Mary, Mo. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies of Charity and Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Joan) Voelker of St. Mary; four daughters, Patricia Moore and Janet Clark of Perryville, Rose Mary (Gerald) Grass of St. Charles, Mo., Jacqueline (William) Ashworth of Seattle; a half sister, Margie (Ron) Heck of Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, a sister, a half sister, two stepsisters, two stepbrothers and two grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials be made to St. Vincent school system in Perryville.
