Utility work to close portion of Morgan Oak Street

* Utility extension work for the new residence hall being constructed at the Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus in Cape Girardeau is expected to begin Saturday, according to a news release issued by the Cape Girardeau Development Services Department. During the project, lanes at the intersection of Morgan Oak and South Lorimier streets will be closed for short periods of time. Traffic will be detoured over South Lorimier Street. East Rodney Drive closing for bridge repairs

* The Cape LaCroix Creek bridge on East Rodney Drive in Cape Girardeau will undergo repairs beginning today, according to the city of Cape Girardeau Public Works Department's Stormwater Division. Work is expected to last one or two business days. During the repairs, East Rodney Drive will be closed, and traffic will be detoured. The Cape LaCroix Recreational Trail, a portion of which runs underneath the bridge, will not be closed during the road work. For more information, contact Public Works at 339-6351.

Highway 51 in Perry County reduced for bridge maintenance

* Highway 51 in Perry County will be reduced to one lane with a 11-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform routine maintenance to the bridge over Horse Island Chute. The span is between the Perry County line and County Road 238. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Tuesday through Thursday.
