CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Charleston woman was arrested Monday for allegedly receiving 19 pounds of marijuana through the mail.

According to a news release issued by Robert Hearnes, director of the Charleston Department of Public Safety, police received information from the SEMO Drug Task Force about a shipment of illegal drugs coming through the mail. Police searched a residence at 304 Walhausen St., where Pamela Foster, 34, was arrested. Two children were turned over to the Division of Family Services, the release said.

Foster was charged with distribution of a controlled substance and was being held Friday in the Mississippi County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond. The Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted in the investigation, the release said.
