Brett Patrick Philip, 33, of Pauls Valley, Okla., passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, near Pauls Valley. Brett Patrick Philip, 33, of Pauls Valley, Okla., passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, near Pauls Valley.

He was born Dec. 2, 1979, in Kingston, N.Y., to Harry Michael and Donna Merle Parsells Philip.

Brett grew up in Cape Girardeau, where he attended Notre Dame and Central high schools, graduating in 1997. He attended colleges in Missouri and Indiana, where he studied computer technology.

Pauls Valley has been his home the past seven years. He loved fishing, hunting, golf and his family. Brett was also an outstanding all-star goalie.

He is remembered by all as loving, caring and generous, but most of all, for always being there for others in their time of need.

Brett is survived by his parents, Harry and Rita Philip of Jackson and Donna Philip of Pauls Valley; two brothers, Scott Philip of Pauls Valley, Darin Philip (Alex) of Olathe, Kan.; a stepbrother, Matt Wiethop; a stepsister, Paige Sparks of Cape Girardeau; maternal grandmother, uncles, aunts and many cousins.

A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Cape Bible Chapel, with Dan Greene officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brett's memory to Missouri Special Olympics Southeast Area.
