A towboat pushes north past a stretch of sandbar on the Mississippi River, below the bluffs at Cape Rock Scenic Overlook on Thursday in Cape Girardeau. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday's observed river stage was 9.84 feet in the afternoon, and is expected to drop to 9.1 feet by Tuesday. The flood stage in Cape Girardeau is 32 feet.
