Southeast Missouri State hires tennis coach

Former Texas A&M player Leah Hottois was announced as Southeast Missouri State's women's tennis coach Thursday.

Hottois was an assistant for both the men's and women's tennis programs at the University of Dayton last season.

Before her stint at Dayton, Hottois coached both nationally and sectionally ranked juniors for eight years at various tennis clubs in Massachusetts. She led a USTA junior team to a national championship.

Hottois also coached at Wellesley College, a Division III top-20 team, during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Hottois takes over Southeast's program for Josh Moore, whose contract was not renewed after just one season.

The 2013 Redhawks, hampered by injuries, went 4-11 overall and 1-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference during Moore's lone season.

Southeast's women's tennis program last qualified for the OVC tournament in 2007. The Redhawks have not won more than five matches in a season since 2008.
