Anna Marie Daume, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1922, in Cape Girardeau County, one of five children to Julius F. and Pauline Friedrich Nebel. She and Walter H. Daume were married April 25, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. They had been married 45 years when Walter died Oct. 21, 1988...

Anna Marie Daume, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born April 20, 1922, in Cape Girardeau County, one of five children to Julius F. and Pauline Friedrich Nebel. She and Walter H. Daume were married April 25, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. They had been married 45 years when Walter died Oct. 21, 1988.

Anna Marie was baptized June 4, 1922, at Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed in the faith April 5, 1936, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She was a 1939 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau.

After her children were raised, she attended Southeast Missouri State University, during which time she drove a bus for Parkview State School in Cape Girardeau. She received a bachelor of science degree in special education from Southeast on Dec. 17, 1972. She briefly taught sixth grade at Nell Holcomb School, and then taught many years at Current River State School in Doniphan, Mo.

She was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, the Elderberries Group and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She especially enjoyed visits to the Jackson Senior Center.

Loving survivors include three children, Jean Ann (the late Thomas) Brown of Hillsborough, N.J., James (Diann) Daume and Wayne (Becky) Daume of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Evans of Germany, Richard (Katrina) Daume of Portland, Ore., Marla Stover of St. Peters, Mo., Bryan Daume of Danville, Ill., Jennifer Barylski of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and Eric (Rachael) Daume of Cape Girardeau; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Fred (Cordia) Nebel and Calvin (Gladys) Nebel; and two young sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at St. Andrew Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Andrew Lutheran Church (Homebound Bus Ministry) or Jackson Senior Center.
