A burned wire was reportedly the reason for a Thursday morning power outage that left nearly 900 Ameren Missouri customers in Cape Girardeau County without electricity.

According to Dearika Binion, communications coordinator for Ameren Missouri, about 5:15 a.m. a "wire burndown" occurred in an electrical feeder that caused the disruption of the power service. The location of the electrical feeder within the county was not known to Binion, but she said power was restored to Ameren Missouri customers about 7:30 a.m.
