Pink Up Cape event to be at Lazy L Safari

Lazy L Safari Park will help "Stomp Out Cancer" during a Zoo Fun Night Fundraiser at the local zoo from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Forty percent of the zoo's fundraising admission fee of $5 a person (ages 2 to adult) will be donated to Dig for Life, a program at Saint Francis Medical Center that provides free mammograms to local women in need. The zoo's campaign will include the sale of specially designed Stomp Out Cancer T-shirts for $20 each; half of the proceeds will be donated to Dig for Life. Fans make rules for Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters will take fan interaction to a new level when the 2014 "Fans Rule" World Tour comes to the SIU Arena in Carbondale, Ill., at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 and the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau at 7 p.m. Jan. 13. Fans can choose which game-changing rules they want to see by voting online at harlemglobetrotters.com/rule. The online ballot includes three never-before-seen rules: Hot Hand Jersey, Make or Miss and Trick Shot Challenge. An explanation of the rules is on the website. Tickets are available at harlemglobetrotters.com or ticketmaster.com. For the Carbondale game, tickets can be purchased at the SIU Arena box office or calling 877-725-8544 or 618-453-2001. For the Cape Girardeau game, tickets can be bought at the Show Me Center box office or calling 651-5000 or 866-464-2626. ‘Blair Witch Project' part of film series

"The Blair Witch Project" (1999) will be featured at the Movie and Discussion Series at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 N. Main St., in Cape Girardeau at 7 p.m. Oct. 17. The film, shot as a mock documentary, grossed $248 million, making it one of the most successful independent movies. Visitors are encouraged to bring snacks. Free beverages will be provided.
