Morris wins Cape C.C. women's championship

Kathy Morris recently won her second women's club championship at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Morris had rounds of 72 and 76 to finish with a two-day total of 148.

Donna Wheeler placed second and Marlena Jones finished third.

Irene Thomas finished first in A flight and Cindy Schmoll was second.

Bent Creek claims SEMO Cup title

Bent Creek Golf Course won the rain-shortened SEMO Cup Championship that it recently hosted.

The 12-man team posted a 345 over 18 holes of scramble and best ball to edge runner-up Cape Girardeau Country Club by two shots.

Fox Haven Country Club of Sikeston finished third at 348 and was followed by Dalhousie Golf Club (352), Westwood Hills Country Club (354), Kimbeland Country Club (354), Hidden Trails Country Club (362), Kennett Country Club (364) and Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course (375).

Blake Driskell and Todd Obergoenner of Bent Creek posted the low score in best ball with a 32. The pair also was among six teams that shot 32 in the scramble format. The tie included Roger Welch and Tom Hamilton (CGCC), Tyson Mele and Eric Bergmann (CGCC), Ben Brumitt and Jason Waddell (Westwood Hills), Gary King and Korey King (Bent Creek) and Larry McKinney and Mark Allen (Bent Creek).
