The installation of new traffic signals at Broadway and Henderson Avenue in Cape Girardeau is scheduled to begin Monday. Weather permitting, the signals should be functional by Nov. 8, according to a news release from the city of Cape Girardeau. The work will require a 20-minute, complete shutdown of both Broadway and Henderson midmorning on Tuesday. During the shutdown, traffic will detour to Independence Street via West End Boulevard and Pacific Street. For the remainder of the week the intersection at Broadway and Henderson will remain open with traffic reduced to a single lane for both east- and westbound vehicles. Motorist and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes during the week of installation. For more information, contact Tom Hadler, project manager at Southeast Missouri State University, at 651-2566.
