The United Way of Southeast Missouri has announced the addition of Melissa Stickel and Beth Schweer as staff members of the organization. Stickel, a 10-year veteran of working in the non-profit sector, has a master's degree in public administration from Southeast Missouri State University and will serve as director of community development. Schweer, a 2010 graduate of Jackson High School and 2013 graduate of Southeast with a degree in psychology, will serve in donor and community development support.

Robinson Construction attends seminar

Five employees of the Robinson Construction Company in Perryville, Mo., recently attended the Nucor Building System Training Seminar in Terrell, Texas. Estimators Willy Oldham and Ryan Huitt, project manager Adam Wachter, and superintendents Jeff Moldenhauer and Mike Schremp attended the four-day seminar, during which they received instruction and training on new software, steel erection and standing seam roof installation. All five have earned the Nucor qualified installer designation, which qualifies them to purchase, install and inspect products and services offered by Nucor.

Arbeiter receives designation

Tim Arbeiter, vice president of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, recently earned the designation of certified economic developer, a national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth. The designation recognizes qualified and dedicated practitioners in the economic development field and sets the standard of excellence within the profession. Arbeiter has served as vice president since May 2006, working on many community and economic development initiatives and overseeing several standing chamber committees.

Kempf graduates from Leadership Missouri

Elite Travel Inc. has announced that company president Carolyn Kempf is a graduate of the Leadership Missouri Class of 2013. Leadership Missouri is a program hosted by the Misosuri Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The program was founded in 1990 and works to identify current and emerging leaders throughout the state. The seven monthly, two-day sessions run from April to October and assist the participants in enhancing their leadership skills and deepen their knowledge of the state's opportunities and challenges.

Hood named assistant manager, director of development services

The city of Cape Girardeau has anounced that Molly B. Hood has accepted the position of assistant city manager and director of development services. Hood replaces former assistant city manager Kelly Green. A southern Illinois native, Hood also worked for two years in planning with the city of Carbondale, Ill., before moving to Arizona.

Hood will be leaving Paradise Valley, Ariz., where she has worked as a senior planner for more than seven years. Hood additionally has private sector government relations and consulting experience and has worked as a planner in Glendale, Ariz. Hood received a bachelor of arts in urban planning degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed a master of public administration degree at Arizona State University and holds the American Institute of Certified Planners designation.

Kelsey Seyer, CPO, was named the October 2013 Leet EyeCare Above and Beyond Award recipient.

Seyer is a clinical technician at the 3230 Blattner Drive location. Kelsey was nominated by her peers as an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed patients' expectations.
