The Southeast Missouri State soccer team saw its season end Thursday night in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in Martin, Tenn.

Sixth-seeded Austin Peay scored off a corner kick with just over four minutes left in the second half to beat the third-seeded Redhawks 1-0.

The Redhawks finished with a record of 8-7-3, while the Govs (11-5-2) advanced to today's semifinals against second-seeded Morehead State.

A back-and-forth contest that saw each squad have several strong scoring opportunities finally turned when Shelby Olszewski headed in a corner kick from Natalie Ariza with 4 minutes, 25 seconds remaining in regulation.

Austin Peay finished with a 22-13 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.

Southeast senior goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon, the OVC defensive player of the year, recorded seven saves. She made several stops before the Govs finally solved her.

Govs keeper Nikki Filippone was credited with six saves in the shutout.
