MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Robert "Bobby" Joseph Pecord, 77, of Miller City, Ill., passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home. Bobby was born March 29, 1936, at Mound City, son of the late Merlin Pecord and Lena Decker Pecord. Bobby was an Air Force veteran; a retired farmer; and owned and operated Sleepy's Lounge and Camp Ground for 15 years in the Horse Shoe Lake area; he was a member and served as past president of the Alexander-Pulaski County Sportsmen Club of Miller City...

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Robert "Bobby" Joseph Pecord, 77, of Miller City, Ill., passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home.

Bobby was born March 29, 1936, at Mound City, son of the late Merlin Pecord and Lena Decker Pecord.

Bobby was an Air Force veteran; a retired farmer; and owned and operated Sleepy's Lounge and Camp Ground for 15 years in the Horse Shoe Lake area; he was a member and served as past president of the Alexander-Pulaski County Sportsmen Club of Miller City.

Bobby was loved and well respected by all who knew him; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, cook and guide for goose hunting. Bobby will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Wildy Pecord of Miller City; a son, Gaynes (Sandy) Pecord of Dongola, Ill.; a daughter, Kim Collins of Cobden, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Rosetta Keith of McClure, Ill.; a brother, Merlin (Jean) Pecord; and a sister, Linda (Otis) Burris, all of Mill Creek, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Keith, Sara Keith, Lacy (Ryan) Turner, Jacob Pecord, Gabriel Pecord, Ashley Crawford, Brittany Bean and Eli Pecord; six great-grandchildren, Kalia Keith, Kaiden Keith, Addison Sneed, Reece Turner, Rollin Tuner and Kayden Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Graveside memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mound City National Cemetery, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker and the Rev. Gene Hart officiating. Full military honors will follow by members of the Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans. Interment will follow.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery before service time Thursday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave., Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064 or to the Dodge Memorial Library in Olive Branch, Ill., 62969 in memory of Bobby Pecord.

Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., is in charge of the arrangements.
