THEBES, Ill. -- Juanita Lorene Bryant, 92, of Thebes died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 4, 1921, the daughter of Monroe and Rose Kelly Orick in Gale, Ill. Juanita married Oscar Andrew Bryant on March 6, 1936. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1998. She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Thebes. She worked hard her entire life as a waitress and cook at area restaurants, mainly the Kozy Korner, Ray Benefield's and the Beanery. She also worked at Thorngate and Florsheim. Juanita cleaned homes into her 80s. She loved baking pies and working in flower gardens.

She is survived by her daughters, Marvalee (Jimmie) Monahan of Thebes, Delores White of Thebes and Peggy (David) Maze of Sikeston, Mo.; a son, Ronnie (Lucille) Bryant of Dongola, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, Tamra Dougherty, Jon Monahan, Billy, Gary and Victor White, Jeff Perkins, Christina Carter, Holly Teal, Mike Maze, LaRonna Rainbolt, Regina Ayers, Kent Bryant, Sherry White, Nicholas Bryant and Robbie Bryant; 37 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar Bryant; two sons, Gerald and Paul Dean; son-in-law, Jimmie White; grandchildren, Kenny and Jim Monahan; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with sons-in-law, the Revs. Jimmie Monahan and David Maze, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
