Mary Ella Watson, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau. She was born March 12, 1932, in Alexander County, Ill., to the late John Eugene and Ella Mae Burchyett Kaufman. Mary and Daerrel Forehand were married April 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death June 27,1977. She then married Norman Watson April 9, 1981, and he preceded her in death July 23, 2003...

Mary Ella Watson, 81, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 12, 1932, in Alexander County, Ill., to the late John Eugene and Ella Mae Burchyett Kaufman.

Mary and Daerrel Forehand were married April 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death June 27,1977. She then married Norman Watson April 9, 1981, and he preceded her in death July 23, 2003.

She worked at Davis Electric.

She is survived by four sisters, Roberta Stevens and LaVerne Benefield of Thebes, Ill., Marcia Scherer of Oran, Mo., and Judy Sander of Cape Girardeau; six brothers, Thomas Sr. (TD), John and Jack Kaufman, all of Thebes, Bill Kaufman of McClure, Ill., Donnie Kaufman of Cape Girardeau and Lloyd Kaufman of Olive Branch, Ill.; a stepbrother, Curtis Jacobs of Thebes; stepchildren, William, Norman Gregory Jr., Daniel and Ronald Watson, all of Cape Girardeau, Kathryn Westrich of Terre Haute, Ind., Pamela Chaney of Horse Cave, Ky., Teresa Jean Mack and Laurie Watson of Cape Girardeau and Victoria Woods of Apple Valley, Calif.; numerous stepgrandchildren; numerous stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew and one niece.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Zack Strong officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Crown Hospice.
