Southeast heater, dance open house set

An open house will be held at the Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Rust Flexible Theatre on Southeast's River Campus. The event will welcome back theater and dance students and allow new students to meet faculty and staff and find a mentor. Arts Council hosts poetry contest

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau will host the Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Oscar Hirsch Room of the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Participating will be representatives from five regional schools: New Madrid County Central High School, Notre Dame Regional High School, Arcadia Valley High School, Ranch Campus in Lesterville, Mo., and Ellington High School. New board members named to Arts Council

Three new members -- Adam Gohn, Debbi Bollinger and Gabrielle Baffoni -- recently were named to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri's board of directors. The trio joined the board in October. In addition, David Ludwig recently retired from the council board after 15 years of service.

Concert to benefit SEMO Food Bank

EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. -- "Music for Mouths," a concert to benefit the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, will be held 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Lonestar Dance Hall and Saloon, 589 State Highway 146 in East Cape Girardeau. The concert will feature the Chris Welch Band, Troy Price and hip-hop artist Spitaripatem. All proceeds will go to the food bank, and food can donations are welcome. For more, call 573-270-8555.
