CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dorothy Sue Dockery Teegarden, 85, of Chaffee passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Hayti, Mo., to Cress and Clois Billideau Dockery. She and Hershel C. Teegarden were married Oct. 23, 1951. He preceded her in death May 15, 1972...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dorothy Sue Dockery Teegarden, 85, of Chaffee passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Hayti, Mo., to Cress and Clois Billideau Dockery. She and Hershel C. Teegarden were married Oct. 23, 1951. He preceded her in death May 15, 1972.

Dorothy graduated from Hayti High School in 1946 and was salutatorian of her class. She and Hershel opened Tee's Prescription Shop in 1962, which later became Medicap Pharmacy. She owned and operated the pharmacy until she retired in July 2007 because of ill health, but remained owner until her death.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson, charter member of Chaffee Business and Professional Club, and held several local offices and served as district director on the state level, and was chosen Woman of the Year in 1975. In 1990 she received the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Mary) Teegarden of Overland Park, Kan., and Kevin (Cindy) Teegarden of Jackson; four grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Teegarden and fiance Doug Turner and daughter Ella Turner, and Jon Teegarden, all of Overland Park, Dr. Courtney Teegarden, Pharm.D., and Hunter Teegarden, both of Jackson; a sister, Rosemary Marshall; a brother, Tom (Glenda) Dockery; several nieces and nephews; a special great-niece, Makenna Nixon; special great-nephew, Rylan Nixon; many friends and church family who brought her much happiness.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Carlyle Dockery; a brother-in-law, Joe Marshall; and a niece, Sue Poe.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Minister Bryan McAlister will officiate, assisted by minister Edd Sterchi. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
