The Jackson wrestling team claimed its first district title in 10 years and advanced nine wrestlers to the Class 4 state wrestling championships Saturday at Parkway South High School in the suburban St. Louis area.

The Indians, who boasted three champions, posted 210 1/2 points to edge Seckman by 5 1/2 points for the Class 4 District 1 title.

Junior Jarrett Reisenbichler (106 pounds), senior Tyler Rush (138) and junior Josh Stone (182) won district championships as the Indians won the district team title for the first time since 2004. Reisenbichler, a state runner-up last year in 106, will head into the state tournament with a 31-0 record. He pinned Kirkwood's Jonathan Martin in only 20 seconds in the district final.

"We had a good night," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "Overall, we wrestled really, really good."

Jake Byrd, Carson McCord, Clay Darnell and Preston Hobeck earned second-place honors for Jackson, while Dylan Rush and Clayton Collier finished third to round out the Indian wrestlers who advanced to the state tournament that starts Thursday in Columbia, Mo.

"It was a great team effort," Wachter said. "Everyone contributed points to the district title."

The district title kept Jackson perfect on the season, having won all five of the tournaments it participated in. The Indians also won the Ritenour Tournament, Tiger Classic, St. Charles West Invitational and SEMO Conference Tournament. The Indians also have a 10-0 record in dual meets.

Notre Dame's Noah Huff (113) and Nick Pfau (152) advanced at the Class 2 District 1 meet in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Huff finished second after dropping an 8-3 decision to Andrew DeRousse of Ste. Genevieve in the final. Pfau placed fourth, falling to Kyle Schwantner of Park Hills Central. The Bulldogs finished ninth out of 14 teams in the district.

Central wrestling season came to an end at the Class 3 District 1 meet at Farmington, Mo.
