District and sectional basketball games continued their weeklong slide backward Tuesday from the ice storm that struck Southeast Missouri over the weekend.

The Class 1 sectional games in Bloomfield, Mo., were the latest to lose their footing.

Those games, involving the Scott County Central boys and girls, were canceled Tuesday but will be played tonight at Bloomfield High School.

The SCC girls (16-9) will face Naylor (14-9) at 6 p.m., and the SCC boys (22-5) will play Clarkton at 7:45 p.m.

Local teams in the Class 4 and Class 5 tournaments also have been on hold. The Class 4 tournament at Central High School will wage all four of its semifinals Thursday and the title games Friday.

The boys semifinals were canceled Tuesday night. Top-seeded Sikeston (21-3) will face No. 4 Kennett (15-10) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and No. 2 Notre Dame (17-8) will play No. 3 Central (14-10) at 8:30 p.m.

The girls semifinals were moved from Monday to Thursday. Top-seeded Dexter (22-3) will face No. 4 Kennett (14-11) in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. Thursday. No. 2 Notre Dame (20-2) will play No. 3 Sikeston (14-12) at 7 p.m.

The girls final will be at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by the boys final at 7:30 p.m.

As reported previously, the Class 5 District 1 tournament at Seckman High School involving the Jackson boys and girls has been pushed back.

The top-seeded Indians will play the Fox-Seckman winner in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday. Oakville and Poplar Bluff will play in the other semifinal at 5:30 p.m.

The boys championship game, originally scheduled for Friday, will be played at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jackson and Poplar Bluff will play their girls semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Top-seeded Fox will play the Oakville-Seckman winner in the other semifinal. The girls championship will be played at 5 p.m. Saturday.
