Woodland's Ben McCormick struck out 12 batters in throwing a no-hitter against visiting Clearwater in the Cardinals' 1-0 baseball victory Tuesday.

Jake Long hit a triple and Garret Reynolds had a double for Woodland (2-1).

Joel Sawyer suffered the loss on the mound and also doubled for Senath-Hornersville (2-3).

Lane Henson hit a double and went 3-for-4 at bat as the Eagles fell on the road to the Maryland Heights Sidewinders, a traveling club team based in the suburban St. Louis area.

Henson suffered his first loss on the mound. Eagle Ridge fell to 3-2-1.

Alexa Kelpe and Megan Hawk provided the assists for Jackson (4-1).

Goalkeeper Sarah Blanton grabbed two saves in the shutout.

Saxony Lutheran fell to 3-2 with the loss.

SOFTBALL

Leopold 7, Charleston 0

Leopold's Lexi Vandeven threw a one-hitter as the Wildcats won at home in five innings.

Vandeven struck out eight, walked one and hit one batter. She also had a double at the plate.

Brittany Garland led the offense with a three-run homer in a six-run third and a double. Leah Landewee added two hits and Denai Arnzen had a double for the Wildcats (3-0).

Becky Burger came away with her fifth win in the circle. She allowed two hits and no earned runs over 6 1/3 innings. She recorded 12 strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Kendra Sokolowski was the losing pitcher for Advance (3-4). She threw a complete game and gave up one earned run on seven hits. She struck out three and walked three.

Claiborn had a triple, while Rachel Birkman smacked two doubles for Delta (2-1).
