The Revs. C.E. Rohde and Joe V. Shoults, pastors of the First and Bethel Assembly of God churches, will attend the golden jubilee council of the southern Missouri District Tuesday through Thursday; the council will be held at the Central Assembly of God Church in Kansas City.

Simultaneous city and school elections Tuesday will give Cape Girardeau voters choices of 14 candidates for mayor, commissioner and the school board, as well as on two tax issues totaling 40 cents per $100 valuation.

1939

With only a light vote cast in yesterday's election here, John Kraft, a former member, and C.W. Bauerle of the Excelsior Furniture Co., were named to three-year terms on the school board from a field of six candidates.

By a large majority, voters in Jackson Tuesday decided to annex the outlying territory to the city, only those inside the old boundaries being eligible to vote on the question; in addition, J.R. Bowman was reelected mayor, defeating Charles Sander; elected aldermen were Paul Mueller, Lloyd McManus, C.D. Beattie, and Eldon Roberts.

1914

Palm Sunday. Confirmation services are held at Trinity Lutheran Church; making up the English class of confirmands are Helen Wilson, Selma Meyer, Selma Eggers, Edgar Willer, Clarence Schrader, Fred Atchison, and Elmer Lind; members of the German-language class are Ben Schrader, Erich Werner, Walter Schwab, Oscar Koch, Annie Bruenig, Ruby Hunze, Mildred Ochs, Norma Vogel, Olga Landgraf, Adelia Weiss and Elda Krieger.

Phil Brooks, the young man who sustained a broken leg Thursday night, when he was thrown from an automobile and run over by the fire wagon, is removed to his home on West Broadway; he is getting along nicely.
