Reagan, Obama

This is in reference to a Speak Out remark making comparisons between Reagan and Obama. They're not even in the same ballpark. And to think that Mr. Obama is doing a fine job, you truly must have blinders on. Fuel prices are higher than they've ever been, while we still occupy, for the most part, at least two of the most oil-rich nations on the planet. Somebody's getting paid. And six months into his term, he not only was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, while occupying with military might two different countries. A peace prize. He had the arrogance to accept it. He's turned the whole world against us.

Misplaced credit

In response to the comment in Speak Out bragging about Clinton's balanced budget, I believe if this person would check their facts they would find President Clinton had a Republican Congress that made sure we had a balanced budget, whereas President Bush had a Democratic Congress, whose motto is "Spend, spend, spend." Place blame where it's due, and give credit where it's due.

Roger Fields

I just wanted to express my sorrow for the loss of our assistant chief of police. He was truly a wonderful man. I met him several years ago, and he was the nicest policeman I ever met. He could be serious, but he was always smiling and always had a happy face, willing to answer any questions you asked. He will surely be missed, I am sure. God bless his family. Our sympathy is with you.

The real number?

The Obama administration said they've signed up 7 million people, but the problem is with that figure is it includes most of those 6 million people who lost their insurance and had to sign up for Obamacare. It is really a farce. And they're cooking the books. The 7 million figure is definitely not true. But then what can you expect from this administration?

April Fool's joke

I think the greatest April Fool's joke is Obamacare. The day April Fool's comes, mysteriously they have the 7 million magical number? You couldn't even get a million homeless people to sign up for food stamps within one day. If people believe this number, I've got some oceanfront property right here in Cape.

Well-kept calves

This is in response to the article on farm animals. The baby calves the woman was concerned about that were kept in confinement, these calves were baby calves, and there was a reason they were in that barn. That was a wonderful barn and facility for them to be in. They were in there because of extreme cold weather and winds and rains we have had this winter. They are kept in there. They are fed. They're given dry bedding every day. This is a perfect place for them. And I think they ought to think about how dairy farmers take care of their animals, when they go to buy milk. Because dairy farmers in this area are doing an extremely good job doing that.

Future of teaching

Educators who enthusiastically embrace computers are perhaps unwillingly participating in their own demise. The day is at hand when students will be instructed to watch free lectures and other things on iPads or similar devices, take quizzes and tests over what they have done and be graded accordingly. The number of educators needed will be greatly reduced, and those few remaining will serve in the capacity of support staff.
