MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Martha Florence Peters, 82, of Marble Hill passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1931 in Leopold, Mo., daughter of William H. and Lasetta Brauer Brands. She and F.X. Peters were united in marriage Oct. 15, 1949, and he passed away Feb. 7, 1993...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Martha Florence Peters, 82, of Marble Hill passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at her home.

She was born Oct. 5, 1931 in Leopold, Mo., daughter of William H. and Lasetta Brauer Brands. She and F.X. Peters were united in marriage Oct. 15, 1949, and he passed away Feb. 7, 1993.

Martha was co-owner and operator of Peters and Sons Inc., a member of St. John's Catholic Parish in Leopold and St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, served on several Marble Hill city boards since 1972 and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her sons, Greg (Glenda) Peters and Bill (Kathy) Peters, both of Marble Hill; daughters, Vickie (Nick) Hamilton of Harrisonville, Mo., and Cathy (Michael) McClard of Marble Hill; sisters, Dorothy Murphy and Emma VanGennip, both of St. Charles, Mo., Marie Collinson of Troy, Mo., and Irene Shumard of California; eleven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, F.X.; her parents; infant son, Francis Timothy; brother, Edward Brands; sisters, Alma Sipes and Ethel Brands; and a grandson, Andrew McClard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Catholic Cemetery or the American Diabetes Association.

All are welcome to participate in the rosary at 8:45 a.m. Monday, with visitation following from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.

Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Leopold.
