I would like to thank the women of Alpha Xi Delta and Gamma Sigma Sigma for their efforts to help in these trying economic times. Thank you

Newspaper editorial

Since your effusive editorial criticizing the Affordable Care Act followed on the heels of the law's advocates meeting and surpassing their March goal for enrollees, even in the face of insurmountable odds, your column will forever be consigned to the status of a sour grapes screed.

Health care numbers

There are more than 300 million citizens in the United States. About 5 million have filed to buy Obamacare, but many of them have not paid their first premium so they are not covered. We don't know the correct numbers because the government does not want to tell us. Let's assume 4 million are actually covered by Obamacare. Does this mean 4 million people or 4 million families? Either way it is much too small to take care of more than 300 million citizens. We could have just bought health insurance for 4 million people much cheaper than disturbing the entire health care system in the United States.

New sculptures

I want to say how much I am enjoying the sculptures on Broadway and want to thank all of those who have made it possible. It think it would be great if we could even have more.

Minimum wage

We export our products like natural gas, propane, beef, pork and milk products. And on top of that, we had the worst winter in years. Cattle freezing to death. Piglets dying from a virus. Dairy farmers having a hard time. Everything we buy in the grocery store is going up. And we're getting ripped off at the gas pumps. And guess what, we can't raise the minimum wage. It will hurt jobs. Give me a break. Really?

Global weather

The American Thinker Magazine has just published an article about the change in the scientific perspective in global climate change. Scientists are about to discover and come up with the concept that global climate change is caused by natural occurring things. Things like volcanoes and sun spots and solar flares. Things that we have nothing to do with and can't change. We can't make the globe warmer or cooler if we want to. We are just not that powerful. It's time for scientists to admit, we cannot affect the global weather.

Bad movie

I have to agree. The "Noah" movie was terrible. I must have missed my Sunday school lesson that day, because everything that was in that movie I didn't know about, only that the animals were paired. That was a horrible movie.

Religious freedom

I enjoyed David Limbaugh's wonderful tribute to the Iranian women who suffered persecution for their religious beliefs and recently spoke at a local church. Sadly, history is replete with stories of horrible persecution for one's religious beliefs, whether Christian, Islamic, Jewish or some other belief. Truthfully, a high number of the suffering results from inter and intra-faith differences which has caused millions to be victimized by the most cruel tortures and subsequent deaths, as well as countless wars of religion. As Mr. Limbaugh pointed out, we are very lucky to live in a land where freedom of religious belief and religious tolerance is an integral part of our wonderful constitutional republic.
