Keeping the Capahas must become Cape's absolute top priority!

Voter and economics

The usually infallible Mike Jensen erred recently when he wrote in effects that voters (in effect) always vote their economic best interest. In fact, the reason red states are red is in large part because voters get cleverly distracted by social and cultural issues and do not vote for what would be in their economic best interest.

Special deals

I am so glad the citizens of Cape County have demonstrated their dissatisfaction with proposed use tax. We are taxed to death, and what I would suggest to the car dealers to "level the playing field" is to offer a special discount to potential customers that amounts to the savings they would get traveling elsewhere to purchase a car. Yes, their profit would be less, but they would be selling a car. Which is more important to them?

Use tax

The use tax didn't pass because people are tired of high taxes. Had the cities and county lowered some taxes it might have had a chance, but I doubt it.

Obama resume

I recently read an article about Obama. It gave an excellent description. It said Barack Hussein Obama is an eloquently empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, nothing but abstract, empty rhetoric devoid of real substance. My question is, why are so many people drinking the Kool-Aid then?

Road repairs

What I'm calling about is Bloomfield Road, from the Cape Girardeau city limits over to Highway 74. It is the most dilapidated, deplorable road in the whole county. Cape Special Road District is out there today trying to patch it a little bit. And they aren't doing any good at all. They're just throwing money away. That road either needs to be closed or redone completely, because it's dangerous. It's in worse shape than I've seen it over 50 years, and I've traveled it for that long. It is just deplorable. The county commissioners need to come out here and run across that Bloomfield Road from the Cape city limits over to Highway 74 and just see how bad it really is.

Wastewater issue

I have a question for Mr. Gramling and for Mayor Rediger. When we first voted for the sewer, we were told that it would go up about $20. And then we were told if we didn't do it, it would more than double. Guess what, mine has more than doubled, because I got to looking back a couple years, and at first it was $20 to $25. Now it's like $40 more. What are they doing with our money?

Color Me Cape story

Nice article about the Color Me Cape 5k. If any one street symbolizes the stupendous comeback of Old Town Cape it is the street where the 5k started; the stunningly beautiful, steeped in history, filled with good food, fun and entertainment, South Spanish Street.

Business Insider, Rolla

Business Insider picked the most underrated college/university in each state and the winner in Missouri was Rolla.

Matching values

I used to be a Democrat until I realized my values were not the same as theirs. Democrats support abortion. The Bible says its murder. They believe in homosexuality. The Bible calls it an abomination. This administration encourages people not to work, to draw food stamps. The Bible tells us we are to work for our food. The Democrats even initially voted God out of their convention. I guess it just all depends on where your values lie.
