SoutheastHealth said goodbye today to two key employees.

In a news release, the hospital announced Hugh King, vice president and chief financial officer for the past four years, and Dr. Dennis Means, vice president and chief medical officer, both were leaving.

During his tenure, King had helped complete acquisitions of facilities in other Southeast Missouri cities such as Doniphan and Dexter and helped create a multimillion-dollar bond issue for the construction of a medical office building and a new emergency department at SoutheastHEALTH of Stoddard County.

In his two years with the hospital, Means helped improve physician staffing levels and quality of care, according to the news release.

The release also said those at SoutheastHealth were grateful for the work by both men and wished them the best in the future.

Bruce Fairbanks, who served as the CFO for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, will come on as the hospital's new CFO on Monday.

The hospital will replace Means internally, with Matt Shoemaker, vice president of physician services, taking on the responsibilities as chief medical officer and the administrative responsibilities for a number of hospital-based physician practices. Sly Moore, vice president and chief operating officer at Southeast Hospital, will assume administrative responsibility for emergency physicians and quality management; and Judy Aslin, chief nursing officer at Southeast Hospital, will assume administrative responsibility for psychiatry services.
