MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Merle Mae Goskie, 88, of Marble Hill died Friday, April 25, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born July 24, 1925, in Higdon, Ark., the daughter of William C. and Polly Ann Jamison Harlan. She and Bernard Goskie were married Nov. 6, 1945, and he preceded her in death March 24, 2011.

Merle was the head cook for several years at Woodland School in Marble Hill, and also worked for Caldwell's Dry Goods and the Hat Factory.

She was of the Methodist faith. Her interests included her flower garden, cooking and baking. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her loving family.

Survivors include four children, Troy Goskie (Gloria) of Eugene, Ore., Diana Beattie (Don) of Jackson, Gina Sinecki (Scott) and Mitch Goskie (Jeanne) both of Nashville, Tenn.; sisters Lily Jordan of Jackson and Geneva Barnett of Jonesburg, Mo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and ten brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elijah Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
