This area loves its baseball and football.

The Cardinals are perennial contenders in the playoffs. Though the Rams have struggled in recent times, many still remember Kurt Warner. the Greatest Show on Turf and a Super Bowl win after the 1999 season.

Hockey does not quite have the broad appeal as the Gateway City's other professional sports. But recently Missourians were keyed up about the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues started off strong in their quest for the Stanley Cup. The team was up 2 games to 0 over the Chicago Blackhawks, but the Windy City's team came back over the weekend to defeat the Blues 5-1 in Game 6.

Chicago advances to round No. 2 of the playoffs.

For St. Louis hockey fans it was a blue ending to the Blues' season. But the team provided much excitement along the way.

The Cardinals and Blues both played in St. Louis Friday night. The crowd at Busch Stadium cheered as updates were posted from the Blues game.

Sure, it's a baseball town. But St. Louis sports means rooting for the home team -- even if it wears blue.

Congratulations to the Blues on a good season, with a disappointing ending.
