Southeast junior right-hander Travis Hayes was selected the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing a three-hit shutout at Jacksonville State on Saturday.

Hayes' first complete-game shutout of the season was timely, as the Redhawks manufactured the game's lone run in a 1-0 victory. Hayes struck out six batters and walked one in improving to 6-1 on the season.

Hayes has a 3.13 ERA overall and has allowed 46 hits over 60 1/3 innings. Opponents are batting just .221 against him.

Five of Hayes' victories have come in OVC play, where opponents are batting .207. He has a 2.86 ERA in conference play.

Southeast (29-14 overall, 19-5 OVC), which leads the OVC by three games, will visit Missouri for a nonconference game today at 6 p.m.
