Elma Ruth Pope, 93, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Four Seasons Care Center in Plano, Texas. She was born July 7, 1920, in Mine La Motte, Missouri, a daughter of Felix Wesley and Alma Virqua Denison Shelton. In 1943, Ruth was united in marriage to Don Wilkinson. He died March 27, 1945, while serving his country during World War II. In 1947, she married George Pope in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1965...

Elma Ruth Pope, 93, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Four Seasons Care Center in Plano, Texas.

She was born July 7, 1920, in Mine La Motte, Missouri, a daughter of Felix Wesley and Alma Virqua Denison Shelton. In 1943, Ruth was united in marriage to Don Wilkinson. He died March 27, 1945, while serving his country during World War II. In 1947, she married George Pope in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1965.

Also preceding Ruth in death was an infant daughter, Gloria Pope; three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include five daughters, Glenda Farrow of Cape Girardeau, Carol Young of Sun City, Arizona, Doris (Gary) Warner of Mesa, Arizona, Shirley Pope of Phoenix and Rose (Greg) Anderson of Dallas; three sons, Glen Wilkinson of Jackson, Gary Pope of Phoenix and Larry (Laurie) Pope of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth enjoyed gardening and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Fredericktown, Missouri, and Cape Girardeau.

The funeral was held May 21, 2014, at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown, with Randy Sawyer officiating. Interment was in Pine Union Cemetery in Bollinger County.
