Martha Brooks Vandivort, 72, of Boise, Idaho, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Boise. She was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, the oldest child of Charles Alexander and Lillian Rita Derris Vandivort. Martha Brooks Vandivort, 72, of Boise, Idaho, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Boise.

She was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, the oldest child of Charles Alexander and Lillian Rita Derris Vandivort. She and James Albert Haskett were married April 4, 1970, at St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau. He died in February 1999.

Martha graduated from Oberlin College and Conservatory in Ohio, with a bachelor of arts in music and a minor in Russian language. She completed graduate education in political science at the University of Indiana in Bloomington.

In Bloomington, Jim and Martha both worked for Indiana University. They moved to Yakima, Washington, in 1988 where Jim was director of computing services at Central Washington University. They moved to Boise in 1997 where Jim assumed the position as director of information technology at Boise State University.

Martha was a certified Rolfer in private practice, serving others. In Boise she became actively involved with Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit and trained her beloved German Shepard, Angie, as a search dog. They worked as a team in searches in the Boise area.

She is survived by her siblings, Clyde Arthur Vandivort, Walter Derris Vandivort and Rita Vandivort-Warren.

Martha will be interred at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, beside her beloved husband.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
