BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- The Stoddard County Commission has retained architect Dale Rogers to draw up specifications for repairs to the justice center and to oversee the work, which is expected to begin sometime in mid-August.

At a Monday meeting, Rogers told the commission he will begin preparing specs July 1. Then he'll put together a formal proposal and present the commission with a contract between the county and the firm he represents, Robert Stearns and Associates Inc. in Sikeston, Missouri.

Improvements needed at the justice center include Sheetrock repair, painting, tile replacement and other work in the upstairs portion of the building, as well as repairs to the juvenile detention center in the lower section. The project also calls for exterior painting.

Rogers estimated the work will take about six weeks.

The commission set a walk-through of the justice center with Rogers for 10:30 a.m. June 23.
