Bell finishes first at Junior Am event

Sarah Bell of Jackson won the girls 14 to 15 division at the 2014 Junior Am Championship last week at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville, Missouri.

Bell finished atop the 11-player field by 12 strokes with rounds of 80 and 78 for a 158 total.

Allison Bray (87-86--173) of Cape Girardeau finished fifth.

In the girls 16 to 18 division, Samantha Hightower (93-89-- 182) of Jackson finished 14th.

Jack Litzelfelner of Jackson placed second in the boys 16 to 18 division that featured 108 players.Litzelfelner fired rounds of 70 and 69 to tie Frankie Thomas of St. Louis with a 139 total, but Thomas prevailed in a playoff. Travis Simmons (75-74--149) of Jackson tied for 25th.

In the boys 14-15 division, Jonathan Bell (81-84--165) of Jackson placed 15th.

Woolard wins Gateway Junior Series event

Nick Woolard shot a 71 to win the boys 16 to 19 Tour division at the Gateway PGA Junior Series event Wednesday at Westwood Hills Country Club in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Woolard edged Brian Whitson by two shots.

Samantha Hightower shot an 84 to win the girls 16 to 19 Tour.

Brandon Wagner won the boys 14-15 Tour competition with a 77.

In 18-hole play, winners were Taryn Bell (92, girls 12-13), Case Englehart (90, boys 12-13), Carson Miles (85, boys 14-15), Analiese Pyland (90, girls 14-15), and Grant Woodfin (84, boys 16-19).

Nine-hole winners were Alex Wiseman (48, boys 10-11), Ella Bell (51, girls 10-11) and Nate Hulshof (41, boys 12-13).

Parmly finishes first at par 3 tourney

Terri Parmly shot a 53 to win the Nancy Settles Memorial Par 3 tournament at the Ladies Day on Thursday at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Bev Metheny placed second with a 57, followed by Deanna Estes and Mary Jane Eftink, who both shot 59.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Shiela Crosson (No. 5), Betty DeWitt (No. 8), Estes (No. 11) and Parmly (No. 13).
