A lesson in perseverance

Everyone could use a dose of inspiration, and the recent story in the Southeast Missourian of Chris Hrabik fits the bill.

Hrabik, who lives in Sedgewickville, Missouri, was in a car accident 10 years ago. Only 18 years old and not wearing a seat belt, the crash left him a quadrapelegic -- although he has some use of his arms.

While the challenge was significant, Hrabik persevered and now uses his welding ability for his Apple Creek Metal Works business. He also races his Subaru Impreza rally car.

According to a story by reporter Tyler Graef, Hrabik now serves as a motivational speaker, helps others with spinal chord injuries and shares his story and the critical nature of using a seat belt with young people.

Perseverance is huge from this man, and he wants others to be dedicated in the things they enjoy.

"People need to focus on the end result, not on how hard it's gonna be getting there," he said. "I want people to go out and do their passion well and be serious about it."

This is a good message, and we applaud Hrabik for making the most of his situation to inspire and invest in the lives of others.
