NEW HAMBURG, Mo -- Sylvia E. Steimle, 94, of New Hamburg passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at the family home in New Hamburg.

She was born Dec. 10, 1919, in New Hamburg to the late William Weinbert and Bertha Schlitt Kern. She married Barney F. Steimle on April 30, 1949, and he preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1967.

Sylvia was a retired top stitcher at Sports Specialty Shoe Co. in Chaffee, Missouri. She later owned and operated People's Store in New Hamburg three years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, St. Ann Sodality and New Hamburg Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Wayne (Luella) Kern and Marty (Carol) Steimle, both of New Hamburg; one daughter, Mary (Danny) Glastetter of New Hamburg; 11 grandchildren, David (Robin) Kern, Debbie (Gary) Reischman, Karen (Jeff) Kelley, Bernard Kern, Chris (Beth) Kern, John (Jennifer) Kern, Ryan (Lani) Steimle, Nick (Emily) Steimle, Jason (Liz) Glastetter, Joshua (Sonya) Glastetter and Jacob (Katie) Glastetter; 22 great-grandchildren, Payton Kern, Kendall Kern, Evan Reischman, Drew Reischman, Dustin (Melissa) Kelley, Brittney Kelley, Sylvia Kern, Claudia Kern, Sydney Kern, Baylee Kern, Dalton Dannenmueller, Morgan Kern, Connor Kern, Carson Kern, Emma Steimle, Hayden Steimle, Charlotte Steimle, Ty Glastetter, Callen Glastetter, Henry Glastetter, Kinley Glastetter and Aiden Grogg; two great-grandchildren on the way; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hadley and Reid Kelley.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. A parish rosary will be at 6 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
