ORAN, Mo. -- Florence A. Baiter, 92, of St. Elmo, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, and Oran, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Aperion Care in St. Elmo. She was born Feb. 20, 1922, at Perkins, Missouri, to William and Esther Kelso Friedrich. She and Irvin M. Baiter were married Feb. 14, 1942, in Augusta, Georgia. He preceded her in death May 4, 2005...

ORAN, Mo. -- Florence A. Baiter, 92, of St. Elmo, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, and Oran, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Aperion Care in St. Elmo.

She was born Feb. 20, 1922, at Perkins, Missouri, to William and Esther Kelso Friedrich. She and Irvin M. Baiter were married Feb. 14, 1942, in Augusta, Georgia. He preceded her in death May 4, 2005.

Florence was a seamstress at a hat and jacket factory. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester and the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include three children, Ronald (Mary Jo) Baiter of Sealy, Texas, Edwin (Mary) Baiter of Farina, Illinois, and Janet (John) Brandt of Portland, Oregon; a son-in-law, Terry McConkey of Chester; a sister, Frieda Mansker of Oran; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Lee and Gerald Baiter; three brothers, Lawrence Friedrich, Roy Friedrich and Frank Reames; and a sister, Flora (Dickie) Hess.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Keeton officiating. Interment will be in Williams Cemetery at Perkins.
