All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Notre Dame freshman Sarah Bell was two strokes off the lead in second place after shooting a 2-over-par 74 on the first day of the Missouri Class 1 girls golf tournament at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri.

Ashley Childers of Mount Vernon led the field with an even-par 72. Logan Marie Otter of John Burroughs was one shot behind Bell in third place and among five players within five shots of the lead.

Notre Dame freshman Allison Bray shot an opening 80 and was tied for eighth place with Barstow's Olivia Laub. Bulldogs senior Mattie Beussink shot an 88 and was tied for 26th place.

The tournament concludes today.

VOLLEYBALL

The state-ranked Mules found little resistance from the Cardinals in the three-set conference road sweep.

Bernie improved to 21-9. Woodland fell to 13-12-1.

The Mules return to Bollinger County today to take on Leopold (21-2-3). The Cardinals return to play Thursday at Bell City (3-17-3).

Jefferson 25 25 Saxony Luth. 19 18

Raegan Wieser had six kills and 12 digs in the Crusaders' road loss.

Brianna Mueller finished with 10 assists and 10 digs, while Abigail Bergmann had 13 digs.

JV -- Jefferson won 2-0.
