A Jackson man faces charges of burglary and stealing in connection with an early October break-in at a relative's home near Scott City, the Scott County Sheriff's Department reported Monday.
Alex Anthony Ressel, 20, of Jackson is accused of entering a residence while the family was on vacation and taking $8,000 worth of jewelry, according to a news release from the department.
Cpl. Justin Wooten of the Scott County Sheriff's Department took a delayed report Sunday about the burglary on Route PP, the release stated.
Ressel turned himself in at the Scott County Jail and told Wooten he unlawfully entered the home, took the jewelry and later pawned it for $100 in Cape Girardeau, the release stated.
Detective Branden Caid helped recover all the stolen items, according to the release.
Ressel was arrested and later released on a criminal summons charging him with second-degree burglary and stealing, both felonies, the release stated.
