Doris Slagle Pickett of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born in Charleston, Missouri, daughter of the late Oran and Altha Lee Mouser Slagle. She and Charles E. Pickett Jr. were married Feb. 1, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1995...

Doris Slagle Pickett of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Oak Tree Villas.

She was born in Charleston, Missouri, daughter of the late Oran and Altha Lee Mouser Slagle. She and Charles E. Pickett Jr. were married Feb. 1, 1953, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1995.

Doris graduated from Central High School in Cape Girardeau. She retired from the state of Missouri where she was an administrative assistant for the House of Representatives more than 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jane Randolph Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, fishing, knitting, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Leanne (Roy) Raithel of Russellville, Missouri; two grandsons, Curtis (Tammy) Raithel and Jamie (Danielle) Raithel of Jefferson City; three great-grandchildren, Ann, Kyle and George Raithel; and a great-stepgrandchild, Lillian McCubbin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant brother, Oran H. Slagle Jr.

A private graveside service will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with Mike Shupert officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City is in charge of arrangements.
