Two Cape Girardeau teenagers were arrested Friday in connection with an armed robbery at a home on Ranney Avenue.

Emanuel M. Crespo, 17, and Felix Malik Jones, 18, face multiple felony charges.

A warrant issued in the case alleges Crespo and Jones entered a home at 1110 Ranney Ave. on Monday, displayed a gun, fired it at the resident and stole a shotgun.

The teenagers are charged with one count each of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, all felonies.

According to the warrant, Crespo and Jones displayed "what appeared to be a deadly weapon, to wit: a gun" and forcibly stole a shotgun from the homeowner after unlawfully entering his residence.

The warrant alleges they "knowingly attempted to cause serious physical injury to [the homeowner] by shooting at him."

The homeowner was not hurt, Sgt. Jason Selzer of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said Friday in an email to the Southeast Missourian.

He said police learned of the robbery after officers responding to a shots-fired call in the area spoke with the victim and several neighbors.

Selzer said the robbery, burglary, assault and armed criminal action -- which the warrant states occurred Monday -- were separate from the incident that prompted the unlawful use of a weapon charge.

The unlawful use of a weapon occurred Tuesday, according to the warrant, which alleges the defendants displayed a gun "in an angry or threatening manner" at the same house on Ranney Avenue.

Online court records show no prior charges for either defendant.

The victim has had prior issues with lawbreakers: This summer, his car was shot on Lacey Street, Selzer said in an email.
