__COLBERT, CRAWFORD RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE__

Angie Colbert, a certified paraoptometric at Leet EyeCare on North Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau, was named the business' Above and Beyond recipient for September. Kelsey Crawford, a three-year employee of the eye care center and a certified clinical technician, earned the honor for October. Both women were nominated by their peers for the award.

__RAY JOINS KAELIN DENTAL GROUP__

Blair Ray of Charleston, Missouri, joined Kaelin Dental Group in Cape Girardeau as a dental hygienist. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She has four years of dental hygiene experience.

__KAELIN SPEAKS AT INVISALIGN CONFERENCE__

Dr. David Kaelin was invited to be the guest speaker at an Invisalign conference in St. Louis. He spoke to a select group of dentists about the ITERO scanner and how it is allowing a more precise impression with image accuracy. The seminar concluded with information about treating malocclusion with Invisalign using advanced techniques.

__FRESENIUS OPENS SIKESTON DIALYSIS FACILITY__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Fresenius Medical Care North America held an open house Oct. 23 for its new dialysis clinic at 801 Plantation Blvd. in Sikeston.

__SAINT FRANCIS JOINS STATEWIDE NETWORK__

Saint Francis Healthcare System joined a statewide network of systems formed earlier this year to improve the quality and delivery of medical services. Saint Francis became the sixth member of the network after a vote by the founding members of the Health Network of Missouri in September. The founding members include the University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach and Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. The mission of the network, according to a news release, "is to improve access and better coordinate health care for patients in the communities served by the member hospitals." The addition of Saint Francis will mean the network has more than 1,000 hospital beds, more than 10,700 employees and about 1,200 affiliated physicians, along with an expansion to 18 counties in Southeast Missouri to the areas served by the network.

__ITALIAN RESTAURANT OPENS ON KINGSHIGHWAY__

Ciao, a new Italian restaurant, opened Oct. 27 at 1650 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is open for private parties only on Sundays.

__SAINT FRANCIS BREAKS GROUND IN DEXTER__

DEXTER, Mo. -- On Oct. 29, Saint Francis Healthcare System broke ground for the future Dexter Health Campus at U.S. 60 Outer Road and Harris Drive in Dexter. The endeavor is a joint venture between Saint Francis Healthcare System and Lifepoint Development LLC, according to a news release from Saint Francis. Scheduled to be complete in early 2016, the facility will provide a multitude of services and specialties to Dexter residents, including cancer and heart specialists, Fitness Plus Dexter, imaging capabilities, lab services, primary and urgent care and outpatient rehabilitation. Beginning later this fall, area residents will have access to these services in a temporary Dexter location while the health campus is under construction.

__APPLEMAN APPOINTED TO STATE PODIATRY BOARD__

Gov. Jay Nixon re-appointed Dr. Jeffrey P. Appleman of Jackson to the State Board of Podiatric Medicine. The board licenses podiatrists and regulates the profession of podiatry. The board reviews applications for licensure to determine an applicant's qualifications and enforces the laws and regulations governing the practice of podiatry in Missouri. Appleman, who is a board-certified foot surgeon, has operated a private practice in podiatry in Cape Girardeau since 1998. The governor re-appointed him for a term ending July 1, 2018.

__BROADWAY PRESCRIPTION CREW ATTENDS CONVENTION__

Lee Schlitt, owner of Broadway Prescription Shop in Cape Girardeau, along with Kevin Wood, owner and pharmacist; Jen Cecich, program director; and Stephanie Rogers, marketing director, attended the National Community Pharmacists Association's 116th annual convention and trade exposition in Austin, Texas. Attendees heard from a keynote speaker, participated in continuing education seminars and engaged in round table discussions on emerging trends, technologies and best practices, according to a news release from Broadway Prescription Shop.

__SEMO HEALTH NETWORK EARNS AWARD__

SEMO Health Network was honored by the Missouri Primary Care Association at an awards luncheon in Branson, Missouri. The network was awarded a bronze level award for reaching a standardized national goal percentage on clinical measures set by the association's medical director network. This year's measures, according to a news release from the network, included diabetes control, hypertension control, cervical cancer screening, weight assessment and counseling for children and adolescents, childhood immunizations, tobacco use assessment and tobacco cessation intervention.

__TWIN RIVERS APPOINTS NEW CEO__

KENNETT, Mo. -- On Oct. 24, Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center announced that Gerald Faircloth has been appointed the hospital's new CEO, effective Nov. 17. He has more than 30 years of hospital management experience. For the last two years, he has served as chief operating officer at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

__ROCKWELL DENTAL CUTS RIBBON__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Oct. 30 for Rockwell Dental, 1125 Herschell Bess Blvd., Suite 2, owned by Dr. Stuart A. Rockwell and Judi Rockwell.
