CAIRO, Ill. -- Aileen Meadows, 92, of Cairo went home to heaven on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. She had been residing with a daughter, Carmen, at their winter home. She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Vienna, Illinois, to William and Georgia McCown. She married Carmon Alton Meadows on Jan. 12, 1940. He preceded her in death July 5, 2005...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Aileen Meadows, 92, of Cairo went home to heaven on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. She had been residing with a daughter, Carmen, at their winter home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Vienna, Illinois, to William and Georgia McCown. She married Carmon Alton Meadows on Jan. 12, 1940. He preceded her in death July 5, 2005.

Aileen was a faithful wife and full-time mother to her four children. She was an avid reader, excellent cook, and member of Las Vegas Ladies Tea Society. She loved her family and God with all her heart.

She loyally supported her favorite charities, including Exodus/Faithrunner Ministries. Aileen had a good sense of humor, and she was respected by the many who knew her. The wisdom she shared will always be remembered.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Meadows and Donald E. Meadows; two daughters, Carmen Comollo and Annie Meadows-Tibone; grandchildren, Tony V. Anderson, Christopher Alton Meadows, Carmen (Anderson) Hardy, Tyler Brown Meadows, Timothy Meadows (deceased), Taylor Meadows and Tiffany Meadows; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Aileen also left behind a lifelong best friend, Ruth (Clifford) Billingsley; and Kathy Walsh, who was like a third daughter.

Aileen attended Mighty Rivers Baptist Church (Cairo Baptist Church) in Cairo, taking part in Bible studies and events, while being faithful to St. Patrick's Church during her yearly time of residing in that area.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mounds, Illinois, with Dr. Larry Potts and the Rev. Chris Mujule officiating.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 New International Version (NIV): "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
