Central's Al Young scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Tigers to a 61-50 victory over Sikeston on Friday in a SEMO Conference boys basketball game at the Sikeston Field House.

The 6-foot junior knocked down several key shots, including a 3-pointer that tied the game at 11-all during a 13-2 run in the first quarter and a conventional three-point play that extended the Tigers' lead to eight points midway through the final period.

"I thought we did a good job in the half-court [offense] of moving the ball and kind of getting it to the right spots, especially in the second half," Central coach Drew Church said.

The win marks the Tigers' second road victory against Sikeston this season. The two teams will compete next week in the Class 4 District 1 tournament, which will be held at the Sikeston Field House.
