The Discovery Playhouse in Cape Girardeau is opening its latest exhibit this week.

At 11 a.m. Wednesday, the museum will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new veterinarian exhibit. The name of at exhibit also will be announced.

The exhibit's name was chosen from ideas from Discovery Playhouse members and its visitors. The exhibit is sponsored by Ford and Sons Funeral Home and Funeral Directors Life Insurance Co.

At the museum's veterinarian office, there are types of dogs and cats to care for, as well as bunnies and a horse.

Children are encouraged to become a veterinarian by wearing a lab coat, using medical tools and performing checkups on the animals.

The public is welcome to attend the ribbon-cutting and see the new exhibit.

The not-for-profit children's museum at 502 Broadway in Cape Girardeau features more than 7,500 square feet of exhibit space for children to play and learn.
