The Southeast Missouri State baseball team suffered its second series loss of the season, losing a 6-3 decision in Friday's game but splitting Saturday's doubleheader with a 7-2 win and a 5-0 loss against Bradley in New Orleans.

It took just two batters for Southeast to fall behind in Game 1.

After starting pitcher Alex Winkelman allowed a walk to start the game, Bradley second baseman Chris Godinez stole second and scored on a single by No. 2 batter and third baseman Spencer Gaa.

Gaa came through with an RBI single again in the fifth inning to make it 2-0.

Southeast (4-6) only had two hits through the first six innings -- a double by shortstop Branden Boggetto in the second and a single by second baseman Trevor Ezell in the third.

The Braves (7-2) plated three runs in the top of the seventh off a couple of Southeast relievers.

Pitcher Joey Lucchesi replaced Winkelman to start the inning and allowed three hits and a run to score before exiting the game.

Greg Mosel inherited runners on the corners with one out and gave up an RBI single to Gaa and an RBI sac fly that made it 5-0. All three runs were credited to Lucchesi.

The Redhawks got on the board in the bottom of the inning.

Right fielder Dalton Hewitt and third baseman Andy Lennington singled to start the inning and first baseman Ryan Rippee homered to left field to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Lennington scored Ezell with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning.

Ezell added to the Redhawks' lead with an one-run single in the bottom of the third before Rippee provided a two-run double down the left-field line, pushing Southeast's lead to 4-0.

Bradley added a run in the top of the fifth and seventh innings, but Rippee hit a three-run shot to left field in the bottom of the seventh that gave Southeast a comfortable 7-2 lead.

Travis Hayes (2-1) picked up the win on the mound. He gave up five hits and had six strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work.

The Redhawks' offense sputtered in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Braves scored three runs in the top of the first, one in the third and one in the fifth.

Southeast failed to get an extra-base hit and was limited to only five hits.

Ryan Lenaburg suffered the pitching loss for Southeast. He scattered three hits and had two strikeouts and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.
