Robert Lee "Bob" Clingingsmith, 66, of Jackson passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at his home. He was born June 13, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Alvin "Jake" and Alma C. Hanselmann Clingingsmith. Robert Lee "Bob" Clingingsmith, 66, of Jackson passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015, at his home.

He was born June 13, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Alvin "Jake" and Alma C. Hanselmann Clingingsmith. He and Karen Sue Deck were married March 29, 1970. She passed away Feb. 19, 2002. He married Cheryl L. Wills Puhlman on July 15, 2006.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Jackson High School, and attained a bachelor's degree in business management from Southeast Missouri State University in 1970. He worked at Ford Motor Credit, retiring in 2000 as an executive manager. Bob lived several years in Terre Haute, Indiana, and Mountain Home, Arkansas, before returning to Jackson. He attended Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, and was a member of Jackson Elks Lodge.

He was an extremely devoted father, providing an amazingly awesome childhood experience for his kids, traveling all over the United States and Canada, and also coaching their various athletic teams. He was a strong supporter and booster of Terre Haute North High School.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Keely (Alex) Elfrink of Jackson; a son, Kyle Clingingsmith of Roanoke, Virginia; a grandson, Joseph Elfrink; two sisters, Connie (Roger) Friedrich of Cape Girardeau, Debbie (Teddy) Scholl of Jackson; his former wife, Cheryl Puhlman of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen, and his parents.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Thursday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the church or charity of choice in memory of Bob and Karen Clingingsmith.
