Woodland's Mara Grindstaff blasted two doubles to lead fourth-seeded Woodland to a 17-7 victory over the fifth-seeded Scott County Central in the opening round of the Class 1 District 4 spring softball tournament Monday at Scott City High School.

Brooke Miles was the winning pitcher and had two hits.

Anna Deck added a triple for Woodland, who will face top-seeded host Scott City (15-6) in a semifinal at 3:30 p.m. today.

Johneisha Daniel had a double to pace Scott County Central, which ended its season at 0-9.

Second-seeded Advance (16-3) will take on third-seeded Leopold (15-1) in the other semifinal at 5 p.m. The championship game will be played at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

It only took the fourth-seeded Blue Jays three innings to dispose of the fifth-seeded Cougars as Oak Ridge advanced to the semifinals of the Class 1 District 5 tournament at West County High School in Park Hills, Missouri.

Jessica Hahs got the win in the circle for Oak Ridge (8-10). She pitched three innings and allowed one earned run. She had five strikeouts and two walks.

Dawn Yates sustained the loss. She pitched two innings and gave up 23 earned runs. She struck out two and walked 14 to pace Kingston, which ended its season at 7-9.

Oak Ridge will face top-seeded host West County (16-2) at 4 p.m. today.

Levi Alsup threw a no-hitter and tripled to lead the Hawks in the five-inning victory at home over the Royals.

Alsup recorded five strikeouts and four walks to lead Kelly (9-14).

Jeremiah Bain went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Hawks.

Devin Hester took the loss for Twin Rivers. He pitched a complete game and gave up six earned runs. He struck out six and walked one.

Trent Pobst blasted two doubles as the Rams wasted no time disposing of their conference rival in five innings.

Braden Cox went the distance on the mound for Scott City (14-11, 5-0 Scott-Mississippi Conference). He struck out six and had no walks.

Dylan Keller had two RBIs for the Rams.

Jake Perkins took the loss for Chaffee (11-11, 3-3). He pitched 1/3 innings and gave up eight runs (four earned) on four hits.

Brendan Welker went 4 for 4, including two doubles, and drove in four runs as the Panthers won on the road in five innings.

Welker also went the distance on the mound for Meadow Heights (8-8). He allowed two earned runs, struck out seven and walked two.

Jacob Douglas doubled and added four RBIs for the Panthers. Lane Baremore added three RBIs and had a double.

Cord Cooper was the losing pitcher. He threw a complete game and gave up 18 earned runs with five strikeouts and five walks.

Matt Ford had a triple and drove in all three runs to pace Leopold (3-13).

Cole Steinbecker had a double but it was not enough as the Indians fell on the road to the Dragons.

Jordan Buchheit sustained the loss for St. Vincent (10-6). He pitched five innings and gave up seven runs (three earned) on six hits. He struck out three and walked five.

Noah Niswonger batted in the two runs for the Indians.

Robert Nickelson was the winning pitcher. He threw 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. He struck out three and walked four.

Craig Theiss belted a triple for DeSoto (9-12).

Notre Dame fell to 6-13 with the loss.

Windsor 2, St. Vincent 1 (OT)

Windsor's Tessa Streb and Breanna Sitzes each scored a goal as the Owls claimed the conference road win in overtime.

Calli Robertson and Lauryn Kunz had one assist apiece for Windsor (12-5, 4-1 JCAA Conference).

Goalkeeper Kelsi Gmerek had 10 saves for the Owls.

St. Vincent fell to 9-9 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the loss.

Kelly 7, Paragould (Ark.) 0

Samantha Ratledge scored two goals as the Hawks won big at home over the Rams.

Emily Bolen, Tessa Johnson and Maegan Walker each added one goal and one assist for Kelly (6-8-1). Alexis Dock and Kaitlin Johnson each had one goal, while Savannah Whitten had two assists and Hailey Noon had one.

Goalkeepers Taylor Crank and MaShanda Reed combined for three saves in the shutout.

JV -- Kelly won 1-0.

BOYS TENNIS

Poplar Bluff 7, Central 2

The Tigers won one singles and one doubles match in the loss at home to the Mules.

Central dropped to 1-12 with the loss, while Poplar Bluff improved to 7-5. The Tigers will close out their regular season on Wednesday at Farmington (9-3).
