Marian K. Wunderlich, 65, of Jackson went to her heavenly home Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Jackson Manor. She joined her husband in heaven following a courageous six-month battle against leukemia.

She was born July 30, 1949, in Burwell, Nebraska, daughter of Robert and Lillian McAfee Heimgartner. She was baptized in Jesus Christ on Sept. 11, 1949, and confirmed her faith April 7, 1963. She and James Wunderlich were married June 7, 1970, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Blue Point) in Altamont, Illinois.

Marian was a 1967 graduate of Altamont Community High School. She attended one year at Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois. Her sophomore year of college she transferred to St. Paul Junior College in Concordia, Missouri, where she met Jim.

She stayed at home to raise their children until they were all in school. She worked at J.C. Penney Co., an insurance group, a physician's billing office, a few different preschools and day-care centers in the area, and most recently worked at Wal-Mart in Jackson before retiring so she could stay at home to care for Jim.

Marian loved going to auctions and yard sales. She collected many things through the years including antiques and angels. She loved children, especially her own children and grandchildren. Marian had a strong desire to share her love for God with children, which led to her to being a Sunday-school teacher many years. While she worked at Wal-Mart, she spent many hours fundraising for Children's Miracle Network. Many times she'd be out in public and people would approach her telling her they remembered her as the Wal-Mart lady.

She was such a loving, caring woman and always put others before herself. She also spent a lot of time lovingly tending to her flower beds at home.

Loving survivors include four children, Matthew (Jennifer) Wunderlich of Fletcher, Missouri, Aaron (Regina) Wunderlich and Rebekah Wunderlich of Jackson and Daniel (Jennifer) Wunderlich of Christiana, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Shelby and Travis of Fletcher, Jacob and Jordan of Jackson and Charlotte of Christiana; her mother, Lillian Heimgartner of Effingham, Illinois; six brothers and four sisters, Roger (Brenda) Heimgartner of Rushford, Minnesota, Janice (Marvin) Tappendorf and RuthAnn (David) Smith of Altamont, Gail (Julie) Heimgartner of Jerseyville, Illinois, Donald (Denise) Heimgartner of Manson, Iowa, Timothy (Trina) Heimgartner of Marshalltown, Iowa, Lenora (Duane) Kazemba of Lakefield, Minnesota, Stephen Heimgartner of Worthington, Minnesota, James (Kelli) Heimgartner of El Dorado, Kansas, and Diana (Nathan) Opfer of Vandalia, Illinois; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and several foster grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her father.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School or Saxony Lutheran High School.
